What is session beer and why is called that way?

Brewers have been making session beers for a long time, but the style has become more popular in recent years as people are looking for lower-alcohol beers that they can drink more of. In addition, session beers are becoming more and more popular as people are looking for an easier way to enjoy craft beer.

What is session beer?

A session beer is low in alcoholic content and can be consumed in a number of servings. The term originally arose to differentiate beers with lower alcohol content from the malt liquor style of beer, prevalent in North America during the 1970s and 1980s. Session beers are often referred to as “sessionable.”

What is the alcohol content of session beer?

Session beers are brewed with the intention of having them be drunk in quantity over a short period of time. Therefore, they usually have an ABV (alcohol by volume) between 3% and 4.5%. This is much lower than the average beer at 5% to 10%. Session beers are often lagers or ales, but not always.

The definition of session beer

Definition of the session beer is not about the style of beer (lager or ale) but about the idea that it’s best for one sitting or one session.

What are the types of a session beer?

There are many different types of session beers available on the market today. Some popular examples include light lagers, pale ales, and wheat beers. These brews offer a variety of flavors and styles that beer lovers can enjoy without worrying about getting too drunk. Session beers are perfect for social gatherings or when you want to relax with a cold one after a long day.

Are session beers less hoppy?

Often, session beers are less hoppy than the average beer – hops can cause your body to process alcohol quicker than other ingredients. The bitterness can also make you want to drink more quickly, which isn’t ideal for a session beer.

Today’s trends in beer are constantly changing, and it always seems to be something new popping up on store shelves everywhere you look. However, one thing that has remained consistent over the years has been people’s love for full-flavored craft beer brewed with high-quality ingredients.

If you’re looking for something new to try, why not give a session beer a shot? You’ll be amazed at just how much flavor and body these beers can have, despite their low ABV. Cheers!
